Preconception
Meet with Midwife Brianna to have an opportunity to find out about midwifery care and all that it has to offer you. You will have a chance to ask all of your questions and have Brianna educate you in a sensitive and compassionate manner that makes you feel heard and valued. She will educate you on how to track your cycle to improve your chances of conceiving; how diet and supplements can aid and even hinder your ability to conceive. At this visit, she can draw labs, assess your hormone levels, and if anything needs to be addressed it can be done well before your pregnancy begins. This will help improve your chances for a healthy pregnancy and birth. When you leave your preconception appointment you will have direction with a clear plan of care. Afterwards, we are available to you to continue to answer questions you may have while working towards getting pregnant. Once you conceive, you will call our office and we will get you in right away to start your prenatal care with Midwife Bri.
Prenatal
Your prenatal care will consist of appointments with Midwife Brianna. It feels more like a coffee date with a friend and an appointment with the doctor at the same time. You will enjoy lengthy visits and will have plenty of time to ask questions, receive true informed consent, and education regarding pregnancy with lots of laughter in between. Brianna is the only midwife you will see during your pregnancy and you will quickly see that you are so much more than a name in a chart, which is what you sometimes are within those busy group practices. You develop a bond and begin to feel like you are building friendship with her. This bond leads to a mutual trust which is so vital to have during one of the most important times in your life. The only similarity between having your care with us or with an obstetrician is that if you choose, you can have all the same testing and screening that you would be offered in traditional care. The biggest difference is that we will give you complete informed consent and let you ultimately decide what is best for you and your family.
Labor & Delivery
When the exciting moment arrives that we all have been waiting for – you will call Midwife Bri when you feel like you are ready for your birth team to arrive. Not specifically when “we” feel it is time, but when you are needing that extra emotional support from your midwife. She will happily head your way with a smile on her face, ready to welcome your sweet baby into the World. This is the culmination of all the hours spent together planning for your “Labor Day” – this is what midwives live for. The Birth Day! Midwife Bri will arrive with all the emergency equipment and lifesaving medications that you would find in the hospital or birth center setting. Before we leave, after the baby is born, you will not even be able to tell you had a baby there. We do all the cleanup and first bit of laundry. There is so much thought that goes into this memorable day for you. This day cannot be done over so my goal is to make it as magical and smooth as possible.
